Our Story
Old City Mongolia was opened in May 2024, and since then we have had the joy of welcoming travelers from all around the world. What started as a small guesthouse has grown into a place where people meet, share stories, and discover the real spirit of Mongolia. Every guest who walks through our doors becomes part of our journey—and we are grateful for each traveler who chooses to stay with us.
We offer a total of 16 beds — 8 in the female dorm and 8 in the male dorm. Since opening, we’ve welcomed over 2,000 international guests and travelers, both short-term and long-term. We personally provided kind, friendly service and helped them with everything they needed.
We are a family-run private business, and we plan to continue improving our service with love and care. If you contact us, we will reply quickly and without delay

Had a great time staying here. The house was super clean, feels cozy and is just about the right size to build a small community with all the other backpackers. It was nice exchanging all our experiences together. Besides that, the host/service was top notch. The owner was always available and was always happy to help with everything. He could tell us everything we needed to know to travel Mongolia.

Aggie was one of the most accommodating, fun and helpful hosts! He set up tours for us, and was around to help with anything. Very interactive and a kind gentleman. The facilities were clean and had everything you need plus some free extras! Washing machine and even filtered water to fill our bottles. A first I have ever seen! Some people might not like how cozy it is, but I loved it. (He also owns a brand new place that’s huge, so you can go there 🙂 ) I would stay there again.

Since I arrived the owner Agge took care about myself and made sure I could enjoy Mongolia in the best conditions. He has organised a tour in the Gobi desert which I highly recommend. Deegi was our amazing guide, driver and translator during the 6 days tour.
He let us all the necessary time we needed for each site and even showed us additional sites that were not initially planned as he wanted us to learn as much as possible of his country and make us happy.
In addition, we were a lovely group of 4 unforgettable people who became true friends. I could not expect a better way to discover Gobi. The most incredible is that this tour was cheaper than any other offers.

Wonderful hostel in UB! Very comfortable beds, cute kitchen and relaxing living rooms. And washing machine for free is great. And everything is so nice and clean! Just exactly like what you see on the picture when you book it!
The most important thing is that the host of the hostel is soooo nice, although he didn’t offer tours yet, he always tries his best to help you with lots of things and giving suggestions about the traveling.
And the location is so convenient because it is just nearby the state department store and mostly every spot can walk by.
Every time after the travel from the countryside, you only want to book this hostel for rest because it’s so cozy just like home!

I stayed at this hostel for 11 of my 12 days in Mongolia.
The owner is extremely thorough in maintaining the hostel. The washing machine is available, the shower has good water pressure, and the hot water runs smoothly. The host is always attentive. This hostel is impeccable.
I went on a 5-night, 6-day Gobi tour led by the owner. This was my fifth tour since the owner started, and I was able to see the entire Gobi Desert at a reasonable price. The host was also very accommodating throughout the trip.
If you’re planning a trip to Mongolia, I highly recommend this hostel. The owner speaks English and Russian. Ask about the tours and compare options. I think you won’t regret it.

Great location, very central. Clean hostel, comfortable beds (with curtains) and common areas. It felt like home. Moreover, the owner is so nice and takes good care of the guests. I would definitely return to this place again without hesitation if I am back to Ulaanbaatar.
