11-Day Khuvsgul Eco Tour
This unique journey takes you deep into the remote northern taiga of Mongolia, where you will experience the authentic lifestyle of the Tsaatan reindeer herders — one of Mongolia’s last remaining ethnic minority groups.

What you will experience:

Day 1 – Ulaanbaatar → Murun
• Travel from Ulaanbaatar to Murun by local bus.
• Stay overnight in a guesthouse. -
Day 2 – Murun → Tsagaan Nuur
Drive to Tsagaan Nuur village.
• Rest after the long journey
• Walk along the lake
• Enjoy the peaceful surroundings
• Stay overnight in a guesthouse. -
Day 3 – Visit a Nomadic Family
• Drive about 30 km to a nomadic herder family.
• Make traditional dairy products
• Cook Mongolian food
• Help with livestock
• Ride horses
• Explore the surrounding steppe
• Stay overnight with the family. -
Days 4 → 8 – Horse Trek to the Taiga & Reindeer Herders
• Ride horses (4–5 hours) into the taiga forest to reach the reindeer herders.
During the next days you will:
• Meet and care for reindeer
• Ride reindeer
• Explore the taiga on foot
• Learn traditional survival skills
• Experience the unique Tsaatan culture
• Cook and live together with the families
• Stay in traditional teepees (urts). -
Day 9 – Return to Nomadic Family
• Ride back to the nomadic family.
Spend another day:
• Cooking and making dairy products
• Helping with animals
• Horse riding
• Relaxing in nature
• Stay overnight with the family. -
Day 10 – Drive to Murun
• Drive directly from the nomadic family to Murun. (No overnight in Tsagaan Nuur)
• Stay in a guesthouse. -
Day 11 – Murun → Ulaanbaatar
• Return to Ulaanbaatar by local bus.
